to see the making of a dad doll from start to finish. It is truly inspiring. This is one of the carpenters who is making your dolls.

The Modern Masters consists of four artisanally crafted dolls. Warhol, Van Gogh, Dalí, and a female Mexican Artist. These little wooden people are 3.5" in height, and are a good size for a 3 year old and up. Goose Grease dolls are unique hand crafted products, made with Fair Trade principles in mind. Each doll is carefully hand-chiseled on an electric lathe in a small carpentry shop in Bogotá, Colombia, using sustainably forested wood. When one tree is used, two are planted. Goose Grease trains and employs skilled female artisans to hand-paint each peg with USA Made, non-toxic water-based materials, making them perfect for kids of all ages. Goose Grease is owned and run by Juan Carlos and Anna Leigh Donado in Brooklyn, NY. The last photo shows the machine and our carpenter turning a doll.

About a month and a half ago, I was in a classy shop on a trip to Oregon, looking at all of their beautiful objects, when my eyes landed on a set of the Modern Artist dolls. I am a huge fan of Modern Art and had to have them. I bought a larger Frida doll and the set that has Jackson Pollock, Yayoi Kusama, Mark Rothko & and Georgia O'Keefe. I decided to look up Goose Grease, and found your Etsy store - which did not disappoint. I bought this second set with even more of my beloved artists - Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol. These dolls make me so incredibly happy, and I will love them always. Thank you so much!
